I love songs. I love music. I love singing.
My new favorite:
“As the Deer”, Matt Gilman
There’s a lyric in the song: “no good thing, will you withhold, from those who seek your face”.
That’s actually a verse in the Bible, Psalms 84:11.
It got me to thinking though…
what’s a “good thing”?
Well, God invented “good”.
“Then God said ‘Let there be light’ and there was light and God saw that the light was good”. Genesis 1:3-4
“And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good”. Genesis 1:31
So, everything God has made: it is good.
While I was reading about good in Genesis 1, verse 17 rocked my world: “God set these lights in the sky to light the earth, to govern the day and night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good”.
God, the Father of Lights,
sent his Son, the light of the world, to separate the light from the darkness.
“That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us”. 2Timothy 1:14
That good thing, Jesus Christ.
Seek His face.
